REMINDERS AND NEWS FROM SCB'S EXECUTIVE OFFICE
In the past, annual SCB membership was based on the calendar year. Although annual membership is now administered on a rolling basis, many memberships lapse between October and December of each year. If you fall into this category, you will help us tremendously by submitting your renewal as early as possible. Please plan accordingly--we look forward to your renewal and continued membership.
You can anticipate some appealing changes in renewal forms in the coming months. Based on our members' comments and requests, we have tried to make the renewal forms as easy to understand and return as possible. We hope you will agree when the forms arrive.
Your new renewal forms also will offer a new publication. We are proud to include Biological Conservation as an affiliate at a heavily discounted rate of US$140 - less than 50% of the regular subscription rate. Please remember that SCB membership is not included with affiliate publications; however, we enjoy offering affiliate publications as benefits of your SCB membership. For more information on affiliate publications please visit www.conbio.org/scb/publications.
SCB and our members undertook many efforts in 2004 to advance the science and practice of conservation. A chronicle of these efforts is available at www.conbio.org/AboutUs/
AnnualReport. To request a paper copy of the report, please contact the Executive Office.
SCB is planning to introduce of a new, easy-to-use Web site in September. Don't worry, most of your bookmarks will remain the same. We already have begun making improvements to the existing site by allowing members to log in using their email on file with SCB. An email announcing the new Web site will be distributed soon. If you do not receive SCB emails you can add your address to our list by contacting membership@conbio.org.
We are dedicated to upgrading and improving our membership and publications fulfillment services. Although our current Membership Management System is adequate, we are planning for the future of SCB, our ever-growing membership, and the publications we offer our members. We anticipate improved service and welcome your comments during the upcoming months.
Although SCB membership is a benefit in itself, the Executive Office hopes to offer new and exciting options to help you work toward your conservation goals and the organizational goals of SCB. Along with our many Web site upgrades please look for changes to your member homepage that will highlight some of these new options. To view your personal member homepage simply go to www.conbio.org/login, enter your email address on file with SCB, and enter (or create) your SCB password.
We hope you will find this season an exciting time to be a member of SCB. If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions about your membership or publications please email SCB's Membership Coordinator, Kat Powers, membership@conbio.org. Your suggestions are very helpful in planning and upgrading our services and we always look forward to hearing from you.
As always, thank you for your support of the Society for Conservation Biology.
