SCB BYLAW REVISION

During the past several years, SCB's mission and activities have expanded. For example, we have increased our focus on internationalization, strategic planning, education, and local outreach via chapters. To facilitate new initiatives that address these issues, we gradually have changed the structure of the Board of Governors and various committees. These modifications often have required Bylaw revisions. Because the piecemeal revision process resulted in an increasingly complex document, the Board recently decided to undertake a thorough revision of the Bylaws. The objective of the revision was to create a clear, concise document that accurately reflects SCB's current mission and operating procedures. At the annual meeting in June, we will post and ask the general membership to approve the revised Constitution and Bylaws. If you would like to review this document before the meeting, please visit the web site (http://conbio.rice.edu/scb/info/bylaws00.cfm) or email Erica Fleishman, efleish@leland.stanford.edu.
