The annual meeting of SCB will convene at the University of Montana in Missoula from 9-12 June 2000. Information about the meeting and on-line registration are available at the meeting home page, http://www.umt.edu/scb2000. Abstracts of presentations have been posted on the home page. Please check the home page for late-breaking news and updates.
The meeting will begin with a reception on Friday evening (9 June). Come listen and dance to the music of the Montana Tropical Marimba Ensemble and drink our locally-brewed beers (Moose Drool, Bull Trout Bitter, and Stochasticity Stout). The plenary session on Saturday morning will feature talks by Dan Simberloff, Michael Soulé, Jack Ward Thomas (former chief of the U.S. Forest Service), and Jamie Rappaport Clark (current director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service). There will be over 400 spoken papers, nearly 200 posters, a wide variety of symposia, workshops, and discussions, and films provided by the International Wildlife Film Festival. See the home page for a complete schedule.
Important notes
We will not provide coffee cups as part of registration or during breaks in order to reduce waste. Please bring your own mug or purchase one from our local SCB chapter. We are concerned that hardware and software interface problems between personal laptops and our LCD projectors may cause significant time delays, disrupting the 15-minute time slots allotted for presentations among eight concurrent sessions. Therefore, LCD projectors will not be available for PowerPoint presentations except in special circumstances (i.e., presentation of a video is required).
Please make your travel reservations as soon as possible. Missoula is a popular summer destination, and fares are likely to increase substantially as flights fill up. Please contact Brett Walker with questions via email (scb2000@selway.umt.edu) or telephone (406 243-4493).
