1999 MEETING UPDATES

The 1999 annual meeting of the Society for Conservation Biology will be held at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland from 17-20 June. Information about the meeting and registration forms are available at the meeting home page, http://www.inform.umd.edu/SCB/. Copies of abstracts accepted for the meeting have been posted on the home page. Please check the home page for late-breaking news updates about the meeting.

The plenary sessions will be exciting opportunities to learn about the interface between policy and conservation biology. Vice President Al Gore has been invited to speak at the opening plenary, and a panel of policy experts will conduct the second plenary. There also will be an informative series of exhibits from both commercial publishers and sponsors of the meeting (for a current list, see the meeting home page). If you have not yet made travel arrangements, please consider using the official conference travel agent (http://www.assntravel.com). This will help SCB subsidize travel expenses for international colleagues with limited resources. The conference travel agent also can provide a discount on travel.
