GRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE TRAVEL AWARDS

The SCB has funds up to US$1000 per person to assist graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with travel costs to attend and present a poster or paper at the 1998 meeting. The funding, $15,000 total, is provided by the National Science Foundation.

Selection of awards will be based on a one page request which includes an abstract of the talk or poster that demonstrates the general principles of conservation biology or ecology as well as the importance of the work to problem-solving.

The applicant should include a short paragraph explaining how this opportunity might help in chapter development, or how the experience might make a contribution to the professional development of the SCB or to building international collaboration.

Grants are available to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers living in the United States. Applicants must be members in good standing with the SCB for 1998.

Letters of application should include an abstract, vita, paragraph on how this opportunity may benefit SCB, and an indication of any funding sources that may help fund your attendance at the SCB annual meeting. The application deadline is 28 February 1998. Send application materials to
