CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR POSITIONS ON THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The Nominating Committee (ex-Presidents Temple, Brussard, and Murphy) seeks nominations from the membership for four openings on the SCB's Board of Governors. These vacancies must be filled by four individuals representing each of the following categories:

(1) an international conservation organization that manages natural areas or sponsors research (a replacement for Kent Redford of The Nature Conservancy)

(2) a public (governmental) natural resources agency (a replacement for Connie Millar of the U.S. Forest Service)

(3) an expert in integrated agricultural systems, economics, or ethnobiology (a replacement for Gary Nabhan)

(4) a citizen of a country other than the United States (a replacement for Alejandro Grahal of Venezuela)

If you wish to nominate colleagues (or yourself) for one of these positions, you must follow the following procedure:

(1) Contact the potential nominee and make certain that they are a member of the SCB and willing to serve on the Board

(2) Send your nomination to

Nominations will be accepted through 15 September 1997. Ballots (which will be sent to SCB members in the November 1997 newsletter) must be returned by 1 April 1998.
