ACCOMMODATION
Blocks of rooms have been reserved with University of Victoria (UVic) Housing for conference delegates. Please make your own accommodation arrangements directly with UVic Housing by telephoning (250) 721-8395 and identifying yourself as a conference participant, or by FAXing the Housing Reservation Form to (250) 721-8930. Housing registrations are separate from Conference registrations. The University is approximately 8 km northeast of downtown Victoria; Victoria Transit buses run frequently to downtown and take about 20 minutes. Be sure to reserve your University accommodation by 5 May 1997; after this date, availability of rooms is not guaranteed. A reservation is guaranteed only when a deposit of $20CDN, per person, is received by the Housing Office. A reservation received without a deposit is held only as long as space is not needed for a guaranteed reservation. Rooms will be cancelled without a refund if not picked up by 11:00 A.M. the following day. If you require disabled accessibility, please make the Housing staff aware of your needs when you make your reservation. Residence rooms have shared bathroom facilities and twin beds, no double beds. Bed linens, towels, and soap are provided. Residence rates include breakfast. Children under 12 years may stay in the same room with their parents at no charge; however, as no mattresses or linens are supplied for children, bring any necessary bedding. Older children will be charged the adult rate and may be assigned a room next to their parents. Single: $38CDN per night (includes taxes). Twin: $50CDN per night (includes taxes). Housekeeping units (Cluster Housing) have 4 single bedrooms, living/dining room, 1.5 bathrooms, and a kitchen, all fully equipped and furnished. One person is responsible for booking the entire unit and paying all charges. Breakfast is not included with this kind of accommodation. $146.25CDN per night (includes tax). The Organizing Committee highly recommends this newer housing option.

Hotel and Motel Options
Blocks of rooms have been booked for conference delegates at the following locations. These motels are closer to the University, and not located in downtown Victoria. The rooms are available at the quoted rates until 5 May 1997, after which time space is not guaranteed. All prices are in Canadian Dollars. A total tax of 17% will be applied to all hotel bills [7% GST (Federal) and 10% Provincial - 8% Provincial + 2% Municipal].

Tourism Victoria operates a reservation system for Victoria hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast establishments. Victoria's tourist season is well underway at the beginning of June and prices are higher than during the winter months. Be sure to book downtown accommodation early, by contacting Tourism Victoria directly. Please note that a total tax of 17% will be applied to all hotel bills by the hotels - 7% GST (Federal) and 10% Provincial (8% Provincial + 2% Municipal).
