Currency

All fees are quoted in Canadian Dollars (CDN). At the time of printing, one US dollar (US$1) was valued at approximately $1.40CDN ($1CDN = US$0.71). Be sure to check with your bank. The Canadian dollar does fluctuate in value against other currencies. A currency exchange will be available at the registration desk. Travellers cheques will be cashed, up to a limited amount, with identification. However, cashing of money orders and cheques must be handled by banks off campus.

Health Insurance

Visitors are not covered by Canadian Government Health Insurance and should obtain their own short-term health and accident insurance, if required.

Liability

The conference fees do not include provisions for the insurance of participants against personal injuries, sickness, theft, or property damage. This applies to any event held during the conference period. Participants are advised to obtain whatever insurance they consider necessary. Neither the University of Victoria, the Conference Organizing committee, nor the program sponsors will assume responsibility for loss, injury, or damages to persons or belongings, however caused.

Immigration Requirements

Although Canada classifies many countries as Visa-exempt (including the USA), we suggest that you contact the office of the nearest Canadian representative in your country for current information. A valid passport/travel document is normally the minimum requirement for entry into Canada; however, a Visitor's Visa is required for citizens of some countries. Delegates planning to visit the USA before or after the conference should check with the American consulate in their own countries regarding visa requirements. United States citizens should provide a passport, citizenship card, birth certificate, or voter registration card as proof of identification.
