When:
Sunday, 29 June, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Featuring
some of the area¹s best musicians, Sunday evening¹s
concert will energize and charm listeners with a variety of ethnic
music. The Third Generation, a family band opening the concert,
has arranged traditional folk and dance music brought to Minnesota
by their Finnish ancestors. Their instrumentation captures the
sounds of many old Finn Halls with accordion, violin, guitar,
bass, and banjo. A versatile ensemble, their performance will
feature traditional Swedish and Finnish fiddling music, a mixture
of songs (also with piano), as well as toe tapping polkas.
The
second performer, Lyz Jaakola, will focus on her Anishinabe Indian
heritage in this evening¹s program. She combines traditional
and contemporary tribal elements, issues, and humor in a unique
blend that is sure to be appealing.
Closing
the program will be the popular Celtic group, Willowgreen. This
engaging group combines broad artistry with an entertaining style.
They play traditional and contemporary music from Ireland, Newfoundland,
and Scotland along with original music written in the Celtic style.
Jigs and reels on hammered dulcimer, button box and whistle as
well as slow airs and solo pieces on the Gaelic harp will bring
this concert to a rousing and heartfelt conclusion.

other students are organizing: bird watching, running in Canal
Park, checking out local music venues, and much more. If there's
